Definition of a Private Label Agreement.

By definition, a private label is when a manufacturer produces it’s own product for a client, and applies the client’s branding in-house.  Often, manufacturers will provide similar services, such as white labelling, or contract manufacturing and call it a Private Label.  However, we can only offer kosher certification via PLA will a true private label agreement.

How do I know if I’m a true private label client?

You know it’s a real PLA if your agreement meets all of the following criteria:

  1. The manufacturer is not your company,
  2. The product formula belongs to the manufacturing company,
  3. The manufacturer is producing the product for your company, and applying your brand’s label for you, in-house.  That’s within their physical facility (where the kosher program takes place), and
  4. The product is included in the manufacturer’s kosher certification program.
  5. And of course, in order to qualify to use the OK Kosher Symbol, the manufacturer must be currently OK Kosher certified.

Do the above not all apply to your company?

You or your manufacturer may need to apply for full kosher certification.

How do I apply for a Kosher Private Label Agreement?

Just fill out our private label application form.  Once submitted, a private label specialist will contact you to determine whether you’re eligible for a private label agreement with OK Kosher.  They’ll go over the cost, next steps and help you through the quick process.  The private label agreement is necessary to protect both the certified manufacturer, the OK and the kosher consumer.  There’s no fee or obligation with this quick consultation.  However, there is a nominal, annual charge for the agreement and maintenance of your account.

Once the private label agreement has been fully executed, the manufacturer may print the trademarked OK symbol on your labels. In addition, we’ll issue your OK Kosher certificates in the name of your company, concealing the identity of your chosen manufacturer.
