Though the information on kosher is extensive, here’s an overview on kosher, to get you started.

For those new to the idea, or looking for the most authoritative source of information, we wanted to lay out the basics for a kosher overview.  The Hebrew word kosher means “fit” or “proper” and refers to those foods that G-d, in the Torah, has permitted Jews to eat.  The term “kashrus” or “kashrut” refers to the overall subject of kosher food.

Kosher observance is an all-encompassing way of life, embodying the commitment of a people through history and enriching countless homes around the world today. The laws of kosher detail the permitted and forbidden foods, their required preparation, and the way in which they may be consumed.  Upon exploration of the background and application of kosher guidelines, you’ll find that kosher eating habits can bring compassion, mindfulness, and even health and safety into one’s approach to their meals.
